Everyone needs tea bags.

If more people drank tea, the world would be a calmer place.

This is how I feel when I’m offered instant coffee when I’m in the UK :)
But the tea you get in the UK is amazing, so when in Rome...

Instant coffee has come along a long way but still only for dire emergencies.

The best instant coffee I had was Land Rover Coffee.

It tasted exactly like filtered coffee.

Kinja'd!!!

Sadly they don’t make it any more.

Hey Svend, what’s your policy on fixing paint chips? Or do you have one?

I like my tea like I like my coffee. Black, strong and as big as I can get them.

Paint chips are a doddle. My policy though, is don’t use the brush.

When you get the paint, if it isn’t already premixed with lacquer, mix paint 60% with lacquer 40%. Clean the area thoroughly and then wipe with panel wipe/iso propyl alcohol and then using the tip of a cocktail stick, stipple the paint into the chip, building up.

Done right you won’t need to wet sand/denibble the paint flat.

That’s just wrong.

Should be no larger than mug size, 300ml.

Do not have cocktail sticks, no wait, you guys will have some other name, what, toothpicks or something?

Kinja'd!!!

If you find it easier. Pour a very small amount into an old but cleaner bottle top or cap and then using the point of the stick, put a small amount on and then slowly stipple the paint into the chip using patience to build up the area.

Oh, yes, those. Ok, so when you do this, do you let it dry some, then build it up, or keep going with the wet until it’s built up?

Because your stippling in small amounts, it should dry pretty fast. Use judgement really. Try doing a bit of a chip, then a bit of another and so, by the time you’ve done five or so, the paint in the first should be sufficiently dry to add more paint if needed.

Because there are so many variables but general rule is if you apply too much or too fast the small drop will start to look bulbous on the bottom end, as if it’s about to start to run. If that’s the case you may either want to panel wipe it off and start over of leave it to dry and work from there.

If push comes to shove and you over apply the paint you can always get some 3M Blue automotive masking tape and tape near to the area all round, then with a small piece of flat wood and some 2000, 2500 or 3000 grit wet and dry sand paper glued flat too it, then wet the area and gently run the block back and forward in the way of an improvised denibbler to flatten the peak in the paint.

But as I say, use the stick right and you should need to flatten it back.

Thanks, man. I’ll let you know. I can’t do anything until it gets warmer, though. oi.

No worries. I can’t wait for warmer weather and longer days to spend on cars.
